Mary Lovato Necklace
Now in her late 70s, Mary Lovato is an icon of Kewa (Santo Domingo) jewelry. She learned the overlay mosaic technique from her father and became a master of this style of Pueblo jewelry. She carries on a 1,000 year old tradition with originality and flair. This necklace was made about 15 years ago and is in excellent condition. It measures 34.5" L, including the pendant depicting a corn plant. Pendant is made of sterling silver, jet, coral, and turquoise and measures 3.25" L x just over 2.25" W. The necklace is finished with 5.5" of sterling silver handmade beads on both sides.

We especially like how she has curved the feathers to form the naja. The turquoise stones follow the feather design, setting off the entire necklace. Placing feathers where you traditionally see squash blossoms is a unique design element. The necklace measures 24” L — plus the naja, which is 3” L — for a total length of 27”. Here is an extra long Zuni corn maiden necklace by Troy Sice. The necklace measures 36” L — plus the corn maiden, which is 2 1/2” L — for a total of 38 1/2“.
